The Journey Down: Chapter One is a graphic adventure game created with Adventure Game Studio and inspired by the classic Monkey Island game.
The Journey Down: Chapter One is an episodic, retro-style point and click adventure game. There's also a retro version of the game where the graphics are pixelated, but this is the high quality HD version which features the same storyline but obviously has much better graphics and the added bonus of voice acting.
The controls are very simple. Click where you want your character to go and then click on items in the environment to interact with them. The Journey Down: Chapter One features the quirky writing and humor that makes these types of adventure games great.
While the script may not appeal to everyone, the art is undeniably beautiful. Cities look lived-in and the cartoony shadowing found in many of The Journey Down: Chapter One's levels really make the environments pop.
Overall, The Journey Down: Chapter One is a great adventure game with challenging puzzles and witty dialog. Fans of this retro version will want to check out the HD remake, complete with voice acting.
